What is an Oxford House?

In operation since 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada seeks to create a sustainable network of self-run, self-supported houses for individuals who have had treatment for their addictions and find themselves homeless or near homelessness, and need a safe environment to continue the recovery process.

Under the authority of its voluntary Board of Directors, Oxford House contributes to the re-integration of individuals afflicted with drug or alcohol dependencies back into society by providing ongoing "family-type" support beyond the treatment phase. Each house is self-administered and run on a cost recovery basis, providing affordable housing and fellowship, while encouraging self-reliance and self-respect for recovering individuals.

Oxford House continues to build on its past successes, opening more houses throughout both Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.
